What does it mean to be 121Bid Verified?

Verification helps to keep you and the 121Bid network secure. Verified members have successfully completed PayPal's identity checks. The PayPal Verification process varies by country or region. For example, in the US, a Verified member has added and confirmed a bank account with PayPal. In Germany, a Verified member has completed a bank transfer or another step known as Expanded Use. In most countries and regions where PayPal is available, a Verified member has added a credit card and completed the Expanded Use process.

Do I have to become 121Bid Verified?

No. We have introduced Verification as a means of giving sellers/buyers additional credibility.
You do not have to participate in the Verification scheme to buy or sell on 121Bid.
Verified members will have the verified icon displayed in their listings.

Can I pay with my bank account?

No. You must pay via PayPal.

How do I take advantage of 121Bids PayPal Verification process?

Log in to your 121Bid account, go to the Selling tab, and click the Verification icon. It costs £2.00 to become a verified member.

Note: PayPal's Verification system does not constitute an endorsement of a member or a guarantee of a member's business practices. You should always consider other indicators when evaluating members, including length of PayPal membership and reputation scores (on 121Bid or other shopping sites, if applicable).

Fair Usage Policy

As 121Bid is a 100% Free Auction Site we have had to come up with a few rules to stop some Sellers spamming our site with duplicate listings.

With immediate effect members listing identical items at identical prices must list them as Dutch Auctions ( more than 1 item ).
Members can still list their items in more than one category so long as the category is relevant to the item/s being listed.

Failure to comply with this will result in the erroneous listings being deleted and suspension of the member concerned.


We have had to impliment the above rule to ensure that everybody has a fair chance to Freely advertise the items they are selling.

Prohibited and Restricted Items

121Bid users remain responsible for complying with all applicable laws, regulations or restrictions on items, services, or manner of sale, payment or exchange, that may apply to transactions in which they participate -- including but not limited to those imposed by the U.K, where the 121Bid service physically resides. We encourage you to research the applicable laws and regulations that may apply to your transaction.

Partial list of items the sale of which is not permitted on 121Bid:

• Obscene material or child pornography.
• Weapons and related items, including firearms, disguised, undetectable or switchblade knives, martial arts weapons, sniper scopes, silencers, ammunition, large capacity magazines, BB guns, tear gas or stun guns.
• Fireworks, including "safe and sane" fireworks or any destructive devices or explosives.
• Controlled substances or illegal drugs, substances and items used to manufacture controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
• Alcohol or tobacco products.
• Prescription drugs and medical devices, such as prescription or contact lenses, defibrillators, hypodermic needles or hearing aids.
• Nonprescription drugs that make false or misleading treatment claims or treatment claims that require FDA approval.
• Blood, bodily fluids or body parts.
• Household pets of any kind including dogs, cats, primates, cage birds, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, fish. Re-homing with small adoption fee OK.
• Pet animal parts, blood, or fluids - including stud/breeding service.
• Restricted or regulated plants and insects, such as noxious weeds, endangered plant species, or live insects or pests.
• Pesticides or hazardous substances, or items containing hazardous substances such as contaminated toys, or art or craft material containing toxic substances without a warning label.
• Illegal telecommunications equipment, such as access cards, password sniffers, access card programmers and unloopers, or cable descramblers.
• Stolen property or personal property with the serial number removed or altered.
• Burglary tools, such as lock-picks or motor vehicle master keys.
• False identification cards, items with police insignia, citizenship documents, or birth certificates.
• Counterfeit currency, coins and stamps, as well as equipment designed to make them.
• Counterfeit or knock-off brand name goods.
• Material that infringes copyright, such as warez, bootlegs (without consent of the band), etc.
• Airline tickets that restrict transfer.
• Gambling items, such as lottery tickets, sports trading card 'grab bags,' raffle tickets, sweepstakes entries or slot machines.
• Used or rebuilt batteries or batteries containing mercury.
• Used bedding and clothing, unless sanitized in accordance with law.
• Non-packaged food items or adulterated food.
• Bulk email or mailing lists that contain names, addresses, phone numbers, or other personal identifying information.
• Note: You are ultimately responsible for making sure that items you sell or buy are allowed on 121Bid and are permitted by the relevant laws in your country or region you are selling into.
